Gynecomastia
A flatter, firmer, more masculine chest — with surgical and non-surgical options matched to your case. It is more common than most men realise, and it is treatable.
Overview
Gynecomastia is the enlargement of breast tissue in men. It is more common than most men realise — and more treatable. It is not the same as simply carrying extra weight: true gynecomastia involves glandular tissue, which is why diet and training alone often fail to flatten the chest. The result can be a persistent puffiness or fullness that no amount of exercise seems to shift.
The causes vary. Hormonal imbalance — excess estrogen or low testosterone — is a common driver. So are certain medications (such as some hair-loss drugs, antidepressants, or others), lifestyle factors like anabolic steroid use and heavy alcohol consumption, and underlying conditions affecting the liver, kidneys or thyroid. Because the cause shapes the right fix, every plan at MENHANCE starts by understanding why it happened.
MENHANCE offers three tailored solutions that can be used alone or combined: surgical excision to remove glandular tissue and fat, non-surgical fat freezing for mild cases or chest fat, and nipple reduction for enlarged or puffy nipples. The right approach is chosen together in consultation, so the treatment fits your chest, your goals and your recovery time — not a one-size protocol.

Frequently asked questions
How do you confirm it is gynecomastia and not just fat?
We confirm with an ultrasound. True gynecomastia is enlarged breast gland tissue, which cannot be removed by cooling. If the ultrasound shows the fullness is actually fat, the simpler, non-surgical option is CoolSwiss fat freezing. Gynecomastia treatment is available at our Bangkok and Pattaya clinics (not Phuket).
What causes gynecomastia?
Common causes include hormonal imbalance (excess estrogen or low testosterone), certain medications such as some hair-loss drugs, antidepressants or others, lifestyle factors like anabolic steroid use and heavy alcohol consumption, and underlying conditions affecting the liver, kidneys or thyroid. We identify the likely cause during your consultation.
Is it the same as just being overweight?
No. Obesity should not be confused with gynecomastia, which is enlargement of glandular breast tissue. Because it is glandular, it often persists even when you lose weight or train hard — which is why a targeted treatment is sometimes needed.
Surgery or fat freezing — which is right for me?
Excision suits true glandular gynecomastia and gives permanent results with minimal scarring. Fat freezing suits milder cases or chest fat and has no downtime. The right option depends on the type and severity of your case and is decided together in consultation.
Is the surgery a major operation?
Gynecomastia excision is a low-risk, outpatient procedure, typically taking around 30 minutes to an hour. It is performed as a day procedure with a quick recovery, rather than requiring an extended hospital stay.
Can nipple reduction be done at the same time?
Yes. Nipple reduction can be performed on its own or combined with gynecomastia surgery in a single plan, for an enlarged or puffy nipple appearance.
Are the results permanent?
Surgical excision removes glandular tissue and fat for permanent results and a flatter, more masculine chest. Fat freezing gradually reduces treated chest fat without surgery. Your consultation will set clear expectations for your chosen option.
